Admissions

Welcome to Palmetto Christian Academy.

PCA is a college preparatory, covenant Christian school and serves more than 780 students in Preschool through 12th grade. PCA was founded in 1992 with the goal of creating lifelong learners who do all things with excellence as they think critically and biblically. We offer a rigorous course of study.  In lower school, students begin with fundamentals, then middle school students develop logic and argumentation skills. In high school, students master rhetorical skills and have the option to take core classes at College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement levels, in addition to earning dual credits.  PCA's Class of 2022 was offered more than $3.8 million in scholarships for higher education.

It is our desire to learn more about you and your family. We seek to impact the hearts and minds of all of our students who are entrusted into our care as they learn to become Christ-followers and servant leaders in the classroom, on the courts or on the stage. In turn, we are seeking students who want to integrate and fully invest in the school with their time and talent to obtain the most out of their PCA experience. As a parent, you will experience an involved community life and a true partnership with us in the educational goals for your child.

We would love to show you around our campus. Our Student Life Center, which opened to our students in August of 2021, provides an additional 44,000 square feet of space and includes two fully equipped science labs, technology classroom, collaborative classrooms, and an expansive gymansium which seats more than 1000 fans.

Admissions is open and we continue to serve prospective families with campus tours. View our Admissions Events webpage for details. You can also call us for more information at 843-881-9967, or email us anytime at  .

ADMISSIONS POLICY

Admissions to Palmetto Christian Academy is the responsibility of the Admissions Committee.  Assistance in the admissions process can be received from PCA's Director of Admissions, Lisa Shimakonis.  Several criteria are used to determine if PCA is the right school for your child.

First, PCA enrolls children from Christian families.  At least one parent must profess to be a Christian and give a credible testimony of a relationship with Jesus Christ.  PCA requires all families to regularly attend a local church.  This requirement is made because it is important for the mission and core values of parents and the mission and core values of the school to be closely aligned.

Secondly, admissions testing is required for all prospective students.  The admissions test is used to assess academic proficiency and cognitive development.  PCA uses the NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) to measure individual student proficiency against South Carolina State Standards in reading, language, and mathematics. MAP is a computer based, adaptive assessment program that allows for quick and accurate comparison with PCA students, who take the MAP tests twice a year.  In addition, students are to submit the results of any achievement tests taken within the previous two years.  If your child has had a psycho-educational assessment to qualify for an IEP or because of special concerns, these documents should be shared with the gaining principal before the admissions interview takes place.  Test results are confidential and viewed only by the parents and Admissions Committee.

Applications for admission are given prayerful consideration.  There are multiple factors which influence the decisions of the admissions committee such as re-enrollment of current students, siblings of PCA students and ECBC members.

Palmetto Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. PCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.
