High School Timeline

 9^th Grade 

• Complete a four-year academic plan.
• Become involved in extracurricular activities that interest you.
• Initiate an in-state or out-of-state college tour.
• Review for and take the PSAT in October.

  10^th Grade  

• Review for and take the PSAT in October.
• Continue to research and visit colleges.
• Visit with college recruiters at a local College Night event.
• Continue extracurricular involvement; include community service.
• Plan to participate in a worthwhile summer activity:  summer school, community service, or work.

  11^th Grade  

• Review for and take the PSAT in October.
• Attend all college guidance events including the area-wide Junior College Night.
• Make an appointment for the family to meet with the administration during the spring semester to review college preparatory file.
• Take a practice SAT or ACT in the spring.
• Begin preparing resume for college applications.
• Take AP exams or SAT II Subject tests if appropriate to course work and college selection.
• Plan to participate in a worthwhile summer activity:  summer school, community service, or work.

  12^th Grade  

• Contact colleges for applications over the summer.
• Begin working on essays and resume over the summer.
• Register for fall standardized tests.
• Attend Senior Retreat.
• Complete Clemson and University of South Carolina applications for review by October 1.
• Complete early decision/action applications for review by October 15.
• Complete all other regular decision applications for review by December 1.
• File appropriate forms for financial aid as early as possible in January.
• Send appropriate deposits by May 1^st to the college you plan to attend.
• Notify other schools where you were accepted of your decision.
