Faith, Finances & The Future: A 5th Grade Budgeting Project

Our 5th graders recently completed a real-world budgeting project that blended STEM skills, math application, and biblical principles. Each student selected a career of interest, researched the field, and learned valuable lessons about the cost of living. Using an estimated monthly salary, students calculated expenses such as housing, transportation, utilities, savings, tithes, and other living costs to create a realistic personal budget and life plan.
Throughout the project, students practiced important math skills while also having meaningful discussions about being good stewards of our money. This hands-on experience encouraged critical thinking, responsibility, and planning for the future. It also helped students see how faith, academics, and everyday life connect in practical and purposeful ways.
