History

The rich heritage of Palmetto Christian Academy is founded on a commitment to partnering with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth. PCA was established in 1992 as a ministry of East Cooper Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. The academy opened that fall with 3 teachers and 25 students enrolled in classes from first through fourth grade.

In 2001, the student body of PCA had grown to 170 students in grades K-8. By 2005, the beginning of the fulfillment of a God-given vision to extend PCA’s education through high school came into focus when sixteen students enrolled in the first 9th-grade class. PCA’s first graduating class of 16 students crossed the stage in 2009.

PCA has emerged today as one of the area’s leading Christian schools, with a wide range of educational programs for more than 740 students from 18 months through twelfth grade. PCA offers a superior academic program, a broad array of opportunities in the fine arts, and an athletics program that consistently competes for region, district, and state championships.

After nearly 30 years of consistent growth, PCA has now expanded into a spacious new Student Life Center which opened in August of 2021. The new facility offers an additional 44,000 square feet and includes state of the art science labs, a technology room, and a gymnasium.
