History

The rich heritage of Palmetto Christian Academy is founded on a commitment to partnering with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth. PCA was established in 1992 as a ministry of East Cooper Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. The academy opened that fall with 3 teachers and 25 students enrolled in classes from kindergarten through fourth grade.

In 2001, the student body of PCA had grown to 170 students in grades K-8. By 2005, the beginning of the fulfillment of a God-given vision to extend PCA’s education through high school came into focus when sixteen students enrolled in the first 9th-grade class. PCA’s first graduating class of 16 students crossed the stage in 2009.

PCA has emerged today as one of the area’s leading Christian schools, with a wide range of educational programs for more than 600 students from 18 months through twelfth grade. PCA offers a superior academic program, a broad array of opportunities in the fine arts, and an athletics program that consistently competes for region, district, and state championships.

After over twenty-five years of consistent growth, PCA will soon expand into a spacious new Student Life Center scheduled to be completed in the 2018-2019 school year.
