Clubs & Organizations
At Palmetto Christian Academy, upper school students are encouraged and supported as they enjoy, explore, and commit to their personal interests and passions. There are a wide variety of clubs and activities designed for this purpose. Students find that joining a club is a great way to get involved in campus life, meet other students, and, of course, to simply have fun.
Student Clubs & Organizations
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association is designed to provide PCA upper school students with representation, services, and advocacy within the school structure. The association provides quality leadership for, and accountability to, its constituency by recognizing that strength arises from engagement and dialogue with faculty and staff.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Since 1954, Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.
Future Business Leaders of America
Future Business Leaders of America is a nonprofit educational association for middle school, high school, and collegiate students who are interested in learning more about the free enterprise system. The purpose of FBLA is to prepare members for careers in business and to assist them by becoming better employees and citizens. FBLA helps students develop leadership abilities, prepares them for entry into business-related occupations, and offers a setting where members compete at regional, state and national levels in business and technology curriculum.
The Spanish Club offers students wonderful opportunities to broaden their academic experience with exposure to the Hispanic-speaking world right here in Charleston. The club is a great way to meet other students interested in Spanish-speaking countries, cultures, history, film, and literature.
The Science Club is the place for students who are interested in science to learn about all scopes of science from medicine to chemistry to physics to the environment. We discuss how to use this conceptual basis for applications in the real world. Trips are taken to museums, aquariums, and state parks.
Quiz Bowl Team
The Quiz Bowl Team competes head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more. The team will compete in organized quiz bowl competitions within the state.
Palmetto Players Theatre Group
The Palmetto Players Theatre Group is PCA’s theatre production company. Theater in the Christian school offers students the opportunity to study and develop ideas, insights, and values while learning the craft of performance.
In Yearbook Club, we design, promote, and sell the PCA Yearbook. Assisted by teachers, students use an online computer program to create pages, and are also primarily responsible for taking the pictures that will end up in the yearbook.
The Worship Team is comprised of gifted student musicians, leads the praise and worship portion of the upper school chapel.
Middle School Drama Team
The Middle School Drama Team offers fundamental acting techniques at a middle school level; it focuses on performance (acting) as well as other aspects of the theatrical arts. Students perform in class through practicum studies such as duet acting, solo acting, group acting, improvisation, and readers theatre; students also focus on basic terms and methods for technical production and design.
High School and Middle School Choir
High School and Middle School Choir helps students to emphasize part-singing and ensemble techniques in singing. Special attention is given to the changing nature of the voice at this age. This choir will perform in several public concerts throughout the school year.
Fine Arts Club
The Fine Arts Club seeks to teach students about the beauty that God has created. Through the study and display of visual art, music, and drama we strive to glorify God in a way that mere words cannot express. With every stroke of the brush, every beat of the drum, every note that is sung, may Jesus Christ be praised!
