Kara Karnes is the Head of the History Department and teaches 10th Grade U.S. History, AP U.S. History, AP Government, and Economics. She holds a Master's degree in History and a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education. Passionate about history and a Biblical worldview, Kara seeks to help students think critically, understand the past, and engage the world with wisdom and conviction. Kara has lived in Mount Pleasant for 20 years with her husband, Paul, and they have three children: Rawls, William, and Emma Mae.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling with her family, exploring historical sites, and experiencing new cultures. She is committed to equipping students to pursue truth, serve others, and make a lasting impact for Christ.
