Our new 7 and 8 grade math teacher, Alexandra (she uses her short name Sasha) Heiney, recently moved to Charleston from New England. She was born and raised in St. Petersburg,  Russia, and  graduated from St. Petersburg State Marine University with BA in Applied Mathematics and MA in Applied Economics. 

After relocating to the US due to marriage, she attended Penn State university online and earned a Graduate Certificate in Applied Economics. After a few years of working for the Department of Labor and Statistics and raising her two daughters, Sasha got a job as a parent liaison in one of the best public schools in Springfield MA and that started her career working in a school environment. After working as a parent liaison for 3 years, she became a math tutor, and eventually a full time math teacher.  

Over the years, Sasha taught different math courses from 7th grade to Pre-Calculus, including  Algebra 1 and 3, Statistics, Business Math and Financial Literacy. Earlier this year, she felt a calling to move to Charleston, SC. The Lord opened a door for her to be a teacher at PCA, and blessed her and her family with a beautiful house in West Ashley. Sasha is looking forward to meeting her PCA students and their families, and having a great 2023-2024 school year!
