Critical Thinking Skills Showcased In Senior Thesis Presentations

main image

Impressive. Informative. Inspirational. Our Class of 2024 spent three days last week presenting their Senior Thesis projects, and audience members were simply stunned at their command of knowledge and superb presentation skills. This is the culmination of a year-long program which is the capstone of a PCA education.

"Our senior thesis presentations at PCA are a highlight of our PK-12 program," said Upper School Principal Sean Keiper. "In order to develop critical thinking skills that are rooted in God's Word, our teachers provide opportunities for students to participate in this practice inside the classroom during their academic careers. It was incredible to see our seniors show off these skills in practice! They did an amazing job and we are very proud of them."

PCA's Senior Thesis course is required for all seniors, and provides excellent experience in collegiate level research and writing, preparing all PCA graduates for the rigors of college and life beyond. There was certainly a sense of accomplishment seen on the faces of our senior class once their presentations were complete. Great job Class of 2024!

We are thrilled to share with you the exciting adventures of our 10th Grade class as they embarked on a journey to the heart of our nation, Washington D.C.! Led by dedicated chaperones and accompanied by enthusiastic parent volunteers, our students set off bright and early on Tuesday, March 19, filled with anticipation for the experiences that awaited them.

James Ugland, a history teacher at PCA who is one of the teachers leading the group, remarked on the significance of the trip: “From the awe-inspiring Marine Corps Museum to the prestigious Capitol Building, where they had the honor of meeting Senator Tim Scott, our students immersed themselves in the rich history and culture of our country's capital. They explored iconic landmarks such as the Museum of the Bible, Pentagon Memorial, and the poignant Holocaust Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of our nation's past and present.”

As the group made their way through the streets of D.C., our students marveled at monuments honoring great leaders like Jefferson, FDR, MLK, and Lincoln, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and minds. Each day was packed with enriching experiences, from educational tours to delicious meals at local eateries.
