Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy Holds Kick-Off Event!

main image

This year's Chick-fil-A Leader Academy has already begun to make a difference through their kick-off event on October 15. Dean of students, Mr. Wulff, and high school Spanish teacher, Señora VanHouten, have organized a group of eighteen students from grades 10-12 to participate in a national high school leadership program  focused on creating impactful leaders in our community. For the Leader Academy's kick-off event this year, the students watched an inspirational video explaining what the organization aims to do. Following the video session, they worked on a project for Operation Gratitude, a ministry that focuses on showing love to our military troops around the country. The students wrote thank-you notes and made paracord bracelets as part of their care kits for the unspoken heroes.

Junior Katelyn Howard says, "I loved writing thank you notes to the troops because I feel like those in the military do not get as much appreciation as they should."

The Chick-fil-A Leader Academy does not plan to stop here. Mr. Wulff says, "This year we have seven labs planned with some projects planned as well to help our community". Look out for more to come from these aspiring student leaders!

A Heart for Others: Spanish Club Serves as Hands and Feet of Christ

main image

Last Thursday, members of the PCA Spanish Club, led by Spanish Club sponsor Senora Pabst, truly had a wonderful time serving dinner and clearing tables at the 2019 LAMB's Institute Dinner Party With a Purpose on James Island! The annual fundraiser was held in support of LAMB, a Christ-centered ministry based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Not only did the students have a wonderful time serving together but the patrons of LAMB were also greatly moved by the students' service. Most importantly, the monies raised, including the $400+ earned by the Spanish Club's recent empanada sale, will be used to reach the lost and the oppressed in Honduras with the love of Jesus Christ.
