One of PCA's talented band members has earned a spot in the All-Region Band and will now audition for All-State! This past Saturday, January 7, Levi Song auditioned for the SCBDA Region 4 Honor Band. He is an 8th grade euphonium player in the PCA band. Levi earned the highest score on his instrument in this audition and will move on to audition for the South Carolina All-State Band on January 21.

He is only the fourth PCA student to earn a chair in the region band and he is the first to have the opportunity to audition for the All-State band. His audition consists of six parts: 7 major scales from memory, chromatic scale, prepared solo, 2 sight-reading examples, and music terminology. Way to go Levi. We are very proud of you. Good luck on your next audition!

The Worship Center was a buzz with festive tunes as the PCA Band performed their annual Christmas Concert. The set started off with “A Festive Fanfare” followed by “At the Feast of Stephen”, “Jingle Bells,” and ”Holiday Bells are Ringing.” Then the students showcased their talents in solos and small ensembles which included pieces such as,“Let the Holidays Begin!”, “Chanson de Noel”, “Fanfare on Ode to Joy”, “African Bell Carol” and “Christmas Spectacular”.

“The band students did a fantastic job at the concert,” said Doll. “I was so proud of the students and their performance. I was especially proud of our 6th grade band on their very first (and hopefully of many) concert. I hope we got folks in the Christmas spirit.”

Clarinetist, 6th grader Lydia Cooper was excited for her first concert. “I was excited and nervous at the same time but I had a lot of fun!” Trumpeter, Ellison Wylie agreed and added, “My favorite song to play was ‘Ode to Joy’.”
