Preschool Press: Life On The Farm!

main image

Our two's are learning by doing once again! We've been learning about life on the farm this month: how the farmer takes care of the animals, how certain animals provide food for us, and how the farmer grows crops. Each class ended the unit with a day of farmyard fun including wagon rides, corn shucking, bean snapping, potato peeling, butter churning and soup making!

Our two-year-olds absolutely love learning, especially with some hands on fun!

Lower School Masters "Art On A Cart"

This year's art classes, affectionately dubbed as "Art on a Cart" may be portable, but that doesn't mean they are any less fun!

With each unit focusing on a different aspect of art, last week's unit involved bringing in artistic concepts from folk art, specifically from the country of Mexico.

"This lesson covered folk art, as well as warm and cool colors," said art teacher, Anna Boyer. "Folk art allows for fun and vibrant art while learning a few new concepts about color theory."

Fitz Lee, a kindergartner from Mrs. Orth's class liked the project because "the painting used really cool colors."

Fellow classmate, Athan Dimitrious added, "making the patterns and drawing your favorite ones made it fun."

"Students in grades K-5 do a great job," Boyer noted, "and they continue to be positive despite the challenges of Art On A Cart!"

Thank you, Mrs. Boyer for immersing the lower school students in art history and different artistic techniques through fun and colorful lessons and projects.
