Young Meteorologists in the Making

main image

You may have recognized the meteorologist this past Wednesday, January 23 at 5:30pm on ABC4! PCA's very own, Hadley Silvester, did a wonderful job reporting our local weather forecast. American Heritage Girls Troop SC1420 took a tour of ABC4 seeing behind the scenes preparation and all that goes into making the news happen. Local meteorologists, Sonya Stevens and Dave Williams, explained their jobs and how the weather is forecasted and what goes on prior to the live news. The most exciting part was standing in front of the weather green screen as each girl was able to try out their weather girl skills. As the troop sat quietly in the studio, Hadley shared that American Heritage Girls learn about Jesus, helping one another and history. We were all very proud of what an amazing job she did!  Click here to view Hadley in action!

High School Science Club Explores Bee City

main image

The PCA Science Club enjoyed a one of a kind experience as members recently traveled to the Bee City Zoo in Cottageville, South Carolina. Fourteen students from our Science Club, along with faculty advisor, Mr. Warburton, took advantage of the many educational offerings at the facility including a reptile and tortoise classroom. The students were also able to hand feed all types of animals.. lemurs, monkeys, camels, deer, pigmy goats, snow lion, zebras, and mountain goats just to name a few. Mr. Warburton says it was truly a wonderful learning experience beyond the classroom.
Bee City was started more than 30 years ago by a family with a love of honeybees and a passion for educating people about the importance of the honeybee. It's now evolved to include the interactive zoo.
